Kaj Vetha, O.D.

Dr. Kajene Vethanayagam, known to her patients as Dr. Vetha, was raised in Athens and is proud to serve the community she calls home. A graduate of Athens Academy and Georgia Tech, she earned her Doctor of Optometry from the University of Missouri–St. Louis in 2018 and joined the team at Thomas Eye Center the following year.

In 2020, Dr. Vetha launched and now leads the practice’s dry eye clinic, where she provides personalized treatment plans for patients dealing with chronic irritation, inflammation, and tear film disorders. She also provides comprehensive care for adults and children, with a focus on eye disease management, myopia control, surgical co-management, and contact lens fittings.

As a student, she served as president of the National Optometric Student Association and received the William Feinbloom Low Vision Award for her clinical work in patient care. Her commitment to service continues today — both through clinical care and community involvement, including work with the local Rotary Club. She is also an active member of both the American Optometric Association and the Georgia Optometric Association.

Dr. Vetha lives in Athens with her husband, Suhan. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, spending time with family and friends, and staying connected to the community that helped shape her path.
