The number one choice for vision correction
Contact lenses are the number one choice for many people with vision correction needs. Contact lenses provide flexibility and convenience. There are many different contact lens types available for a variety of needs and preferences.
Contact lenses can be used to correct a variety of vision issues such as myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), astigmatism, presbyopia (poor focusing with near vision tasks), and slowing down the progression of nearsightedness (MiSight contact lens).
For new contact lens wearers we provide a proper fitting, insertion/removal training and lens care instructions. The most common contact lens types include the following:
Lens material: soft or hard (rigid gas permeable)
Wear schedule: daily wear or extended wear
Replacement schedule (for soft contact lenses): Daily disposable or Planned Replacement – either 2 weeks or 1 month
Types of Contact Lenses
Soft Contact Lenses
Soft contact lenses are the most common lens material worn. This lens material is easier to adjust to and provides better initial comfort than hard contact lenses.
MiSight Contacts
MiSight 1 day contact lenses is the first FDA approved myopia management to help slow down the progression of myopia in children.
Rigid Gas Permeable Contacts
Hard or RGP contact lenses are more durable than soft contact lenses and are resistant to buildup of protein deposits on the lens surface.
Duette/Hybrid Contacts
Hybrid contact lenses have a rigid gas-permeable center attached to an outer “skirt” made of soft contact lens material.
Color Tinted Contacts
Some people choose to wear contact lenses to enhance or change the color of the eye.
Cleaning/Disinfection
Proper care is necessary for successful wear and good eye health. Thomas Eye Center will help get you started to clean, disinfect, and store your contact lenses.
