Founded in 1951 by Dr. Gerald Thomas, Thomas Eye Center has served generations of families across Athens and surrounding communities. When Dr. Stuart Thomas joined in 1984, he helped grow the practice into a trusted local institution. Now led by a team that combines long-standing values with advanced diagnostic capabilities.
Our team takes the time to listen, explain, and tailor each treatment to the individual in front of us, from infants to seniors. Whether we’re managing chronic eye conditions, providing preventive screenings, or helping someone pick out their very first glasses, our approach is grounded in four guiding values: trust, innovation, integrity, & continuity.

Thomas Eye Center is proud to serve as more than just a healthcare provider. We’re a committed partner in our local community. We regularly take part in health fairs, STEM Day school events.
Beyond clinical care, we’ve raised funds for Breast Cancer Awareness, supported Humane Society Drives, and supported organizations like ESP and Butterfly Dreams Farm through local award nominations. Dr. Vetha contributes through active Rotary Club involvement.
